It has been 323 years since the great conflict known as the "Calamity War" ended. Mars has been successfully terraformed and colonized by humans. Mikazuki Augus is part of a group of children who work for the civilian security company Chryse Guard Security (CGS). The company accepts a mission to escort the Martian Princess Kudelia Aina Bernstein, who seeks to secure Chryse's independence from Earth. However, the Earth military organization Gjallarhorn attacks CGS in order to nip this rebellion in the bud. CGS begins an evacuation, using Mikazuki and the other children as decoys. Orga Itsuka, the leader of the children within CGS, decides to take this opportunity to rebel against the adults and gives Mikazuki the task of repulsing Gjallarhorn using a mobile suit from the Calamity War era, the Gundam Barbatos. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans began broadcasting on Sunday 4th October 2015 and viewers outside of Japan can watch the show on one or more of Daisuki.net, Funimation, crunchyroll, hulu or the Gundam.info youtube page, depending on region restrictions. It's new Gundam time once again. I was a little sceptical, as for me both G-Reco and Build Fighters failed the 'three episode test'. But I thought the first episode was pretty good (although the "whiskers" kinda squick me out a bit). Anybody else checking this series out?
