The costumes looking great, cool helmets and the same color remind me of Kyoryuger/Dino Charge.
I've been a bit lax with Ryusoulger news (mostly because tbh I'm not finding it that great a season) but let's correct that now!
So, from the fourth quarter toy catalog that leaked alongside the Zero-One images, a pterosaur mecha called Yokuryu-Oh, which can of course combine with Tyramigo and the others to form various mech combinations. Also revealed is a claw-like changer/weapon called the Max Ryusoul Changer, which allows Koh to become Max Ryusoul Red.
In addition it's been announced that actress Suzuka Morita, best known for playing Shinken Yellow and more recently seen as the assistant to the new Space Sheriff Gavan, will have a role in Ryusoulger's summer movie. She plays a museum employee who Canalo/Ryusoul Gold propositions. It looks like that's the same museum that the Kyoryugers visited in their summer movie too!
Also announced for the summer movie are Shiro Sano, who played Dr Pacman in the first 'Heisei Generations' Kamen Rider movie, and Rie Kitahara, a former member of idol group AKB48 (former members also include the actresses who played Queen and Elizabeth, along with numerous characters in the 'Ultraman Saga' movie, one of whom would also later play Biku in the Garo franchise).
If the 4th quarter catalog is already out, could the show be ending early?
Sorry if I wasn't clear. It's not out yet. These are leaked pictures.
Catalogs are prepared well in advance so that they can be printed and distributed to stores. The stores, in turn, will have been given strict instructions not to let the catalogs out until a certain date, but at some point in the chain someone has taken some photos of the pages with their phone and uploaded them to the web.
It's the same deal with the pictures of Kamen Rider Zero-One that just came out. None of that has been officially revealed yet, and Toei/Bandai are probably really annoyed that anyone has been able to see it before their official reveal on Wednesday.
It's not really clear to me if they meant fourth quarter of the show, fourth quarter of the standard year (Oct, Nov, Dec) or fourth quarter of the financial year (Jan, Feb, March). I would guess it's the fourth quarter of the standard year, seeing as the same catalog contained the first batch of Zero-One toys.
Ryusoulger could be a shorter season, if only because it started a month later than normal to make room for that four week special. But I haven't read anything yet that would indicate that it's ending before next year.
I wish this show was ending early as it is utter shit. Nothing is happening story wise and we are 16 episodes in.
So it's been 4 months since show premiered, so hows the toy sales doing? Least time I heard it was doing pretty decent.
How much does it takes to save the franchise?
What about the ratings? How have those been too?
I posted comment on dedicated thread regarding that topic (http://forum.henshinjustice.com/threads/new-timeslot-for-rider-and-sentai.97065/), but in a nutshell, as of episode 16 (1/3 of the series), the average 2.93%, which is lower than Lupin vs. Pato (2.97%), but not by much. I'm going to assume that final overall rating would be around the same as current if not slightly higher.
is 2.93 good or bad?
I think it's average for kids show these days.
So according to Shougo over on twitter, executive producer Motoki Sasaki (who has worked on Sentai since Go-Onger) and secondary producer Ayumi Sugano, who are both from TV Asahi, have both left the show and Hiroatsu Shimagawa has been assigned to the show instead.
Good riddance, but it's too late to fix this show. Maybe they will have some good writing next year.
Assuming there is a show next year, which I'm kind of hoping there isn't. Keep the franchise alive with movies and specials if need be, but the regular show is moribund at this point.
Oh please, there'll be a show next year. It doesn't matter how bad it does, Toei would never have the balls to end a show that has been airing non stop for 40+ years. Japan is a culture built on tradition regardless of how obsolete that tradition is in the modern age and Sentai is a tradition.
If the toy sales don't pick up and ratings keep floundering, Toei may pull the plug on the regular TV show at minimum. That's why everyone was taking about it and Toei making an issue about the slump months ago.
I'll believe it when it happens. Right now, I feel like it's nothing but an empty threat (though, the show does need to go on a 6 year break and come back fresh in 2025).
Or it can just end. Forty years is a good run. Things don't need to last forever. Internet fans can grow up and move on.
Again, I don't see them doing that as much as I would like them too. Sentai's peak was the 90s and everything after Timeranger has been on a downward slope with some upward hills here or there. In fact, the show pretty much dove off a cliff after Gokaiger and hasn't reached the bottom of the canyon yet.
Is there a reason why there's no YELLOW Ranger or barely any yellow (not counting gold, even though it's different shade of yellow) in this show?
At least in Kyoryuger, we got this "explanation"... even though it's appalling and insulting, but it exists nonetheless. lol XD
Even though Kyoryuger didn't have Yellow Ranger, at least the amount of yellow on suit, changer/morpher, mecha, utility, etc. somewhat makes up for it (even though, I'm not fan of their design).
Ryusoulger pretty much lacks any yellow on anything, resulting everything looks somewhat dull; not that it would make show better or worse.
Seeing as how Ryusoulger is just trying to copy Kyoryuger's homework, why would they have a yellow ranger?
