I kind of like the design. Although, how is this gimmick going to work in live action?
Just because the toys do that doesn't mean it's how the form changes will be depicted in-show. The figures for OOO split apart into three pieces and that wasn't how it worked on-screen (though the button used to unlock the figure sections does seem to be on the back of the actual OOO suit).
Yeah, Cleaning seems weird. His antenna is a vaccum head and his left shoulder pad appears to be the container of a cyclonic vaccum. The chibi figure of that form seems to have a fully mechanical left arm. Also, it's a rabbit / vacuum cleaner Rider suit, and that's a bit wtf.
I think I'm generally still in the "getting used to it" phase. Build combines roadkill with random objects to create a Rider that looks like W with extra kibble glued on.
What do you guys think of KeyDragon Form?
A better image of NinNinComic Form:
A listing for the first quarter bottle sets that names all their forms.
The first row, from left to right: GorillaDiamond, HawkGatling, NinNinComic, RocketPanda.
The second row: KaizokuRessha (yes, 'pirate train', insert your own Sentai reference here) and OctopusLight.
Also shown are some of the bottles for this year's Legend Rider subline. The Doctor and Game bottles for Ex-Aid, and the Detective and USB bottles for W.
It seems that they're really going to town with weapons for each form. I haven't seen an official name for this one, but HedgehogTank's is a drill-sword that becomes a gun. The toy will come with the hedgehog bottle.
HawkGatling gets a gun simply called the Hawk Gatlinger. NinNinComic gets the Four Panel Ninja Sword, and KaizokuRessha gets the Pirate Launcher.
The secondary Rider's main weapon, the Beat Closer, which apparently has a musical theme.
NightRogue gets a pistol called the Transteam Gun. There will be another villain called Bloodstark whose weapon is called the Steam Blade. These weapons have the ability to combine together.
The DX Build Phone, which becomes Build's bike when you insert the lion bottle into it:
I'm guessing that he maybe doesn't get to keep the Dragon part for long as it looks the same as the secondary Rider's.
Loving all the designs and weapons. Just wishing Toei could take a break of having so many Riders and Rider-like villains appearing in the show so early. We could use a break from that trend and go back to a Solo Rider arcs before the secondary Rider debuts in ep 17ish. But the toy marketing clearly has a bigger influence, which is why they do this.
Zelmoda's card sword in Carranger was subtler than this one.
On the plus side, I do like how despite how much current Rider shows get wrong, the 'classic' tropes still manage to emerge, such as Nitrogue and BloodStark being a bat and cobra respectively: all that's missing is a spider.
Maybe they're saving Spider for later?
First up, it has been announced that Build will appear in the 44th episode of Ex-Aid on August 20th. The show will then start airing in early September instead of in October as had been expected. This means that anything up to seven episodes of Build could air before the timeslot change kicks in and moves the show to 9am
Onto more scans. apologies in advance for their large size.
First up, a better look at the Build Driver. This comes with the Rabbit and Tank Full Bottles. Is it just me or does the center-right image of the bottles look like they actually contain liquid?!
The Build Driver will also be available in a set with a Full Bottle holder (which can hold three additional bottles), and a DX Kamen Rider Build Gashat.
Next up, Kamen Rider Close's transformation items. These will not be released until November, so perhaps Build will get a couple of months by himself before he's joined by another Rider? It seems that Close will also use a Build Driver, but transforms using a device called the Close Dragon. This replaces one of the Full Bottles, and the other slot is filled with the Dragon Full Bottle.
Finally, in December Build will get his first true upgraded form: a soda can called the DX RabbitTank Sparkling. You pull the tab and insert it over both Full Bottle slots. The carbonated contents change Build into RabbitTank Sparkling form.
So the Belt is based on Mixing Drinks?
Before we get to the pretty pictures, some staff news!
Shogo Muto is a TV drama writer who has never written tokusatsu before - so potentially some new ideas rather than the same old tropes, but will he be able to handle the relentless workload of an episode per week for an entire year?
On the other hand, Ryuta Tasaki is an old hand with over 20 years of experience directing both Rider and Sentai.
Also of note is that despite Toei usually not having the same production staff on successive series, producer Takahito Omori is currently working on Ex-Aid.
Tamotsu Shinohara previously created monster costumes for Ryuki, Faiz, Shinkenger, OOO and Gaim (though in the case of Gaim they had multiple designers, so he was only responsible for some of those designs).
If you'd like a preview of what the music for the show may be like, Kenji Kawai is also currently composing the music for Ultraman Geed. He previously did the music for Akibaranger and Ultraman Nexus. Kawai also has a vast resume outside of toku, most notably creating the music for the original Ghost In The Shell movie.
ONTO THE PICTURES!
First up, every year there's a promo pic of the main Rider in some random parking lot, and 2017 is no different.
Next, the actual Build Phone Bike:
Nothing says "safe in a head-on collision" like mounting a circular saw to the handlebars!
Followed by a shot of Build racing away from what I presume will be the show's generic mooks (those helmets really remind me of the Zenitts from Timeranger).
Behold the obvious eye holes of the "action" filming helmet.
According to The Tokusatsu Network the the cast details will be revealed on Weds August 2nd, and it's been confirmed that the series will begin on Sunday September 3rd at 8am before moving to 9am in October.
They've also released a translation of the official plot synopsis:
“Build” derives its meaning from the word “create”. The hero is a young genius physicist who transforms using two different components as if they were experiments.
The hero uses the Build Driver to transform by loading two “Full Bottle” transformation items containing various ingredients such as animals and machines. When the two bottles used are a perfection combination, they are considered a “best match” and allow for the finishing attack. Build’s primary form is RabbitTank, using the power of a tank and jumping power of a rabbit. He speaks his catchphrase “Well, let’s begin the experiment!” as he tries out Full Bottle combinations to decide the rules of victory.
The story begins with the Japanese islands divided into three by the massive “Sky Wall” that appeared from Pandora’s Box found on Mars. In the three new areas of Toto, Saito, and Hokuto, the unidentified living organisms called “Smash” being to appear. The hero will face the Smash with his belt and bottles.
My fear is that this show will turn out like most Riders now: that despite a sober plot with nuanced characters, the wacky cartoon hijinks and saccharine tone of the show will dilute the impact the story ought to have and waste most of its potential. OOO, Fourze and Drive all suffered from this, and now that I'm getting through Ghost I see the same thing happening there. Wizard was weak all around. Gaim is the only show in recent years that was the closest in tone to early Heisei, and even that couldn't get away entirely from this.
On the plus side, I'd like to hear what Kenji Kawai can compose for Build, as I enjoyed the Nexus soundtrack.
Okay. Not so much bottles....more like beakers? Test tubes? Science stuff. He's a physicist or something.
Well, it looks a damn sight better than Ex-Aid (yes, I know it's meant to get more mature as it goes on, but I *cannot* get past those awful suits, no matter what level up stage they are - and I liked Gaim!)
Amazons, or whatever may succeed it, are probably the only place you'll find early-Heisei style material now. The modern stuff is somewhat more like Showa with it's mix of really serious and totally goofy.
They seem to be trying to push him as some sort of scientist (some blurb claims he's meant to be the smartest Rider ever - watch him be your standard everyman lol) but given that his second quarter power-up is a soda can I think they're meant to be bottles. Though they look so similar to Geed's capsules.
Showa never gets as bad as "Phase 2" Heisei can be. I'm not left thinking comedic Showa characters belong in an insane asylum the way I do many of the "ally" characters now.
But speaking of Amazons, is there more in store, or will there be another Showa Rider that will get a Heisei spin in the future? I'd be interested in seeing a ZX show with the suit based on the SIC figure, or even J. (Shin and ZO might be a little too close to Amazons.)
TRANSLATION OF TRAILER NARRATION
10 years ago the “Pandora Box” was found on Mars. On Earth, it created walls that divided Japan into Touto (Eastern Capital), Hokuto (Northern Capital) and Seito (Western Capital) and brought along the Smash, unidentified beings that attack people.
Sento Kiryu, prodigy physicist, transforms into Kamen Rider Build to fight the Smash.
The Touto government requests his help in deciphering the mystery behind the Pandora Box and the Smash.
There is one mystery not even Sento can solve: his own past. The only memory he has left of more than 20 years is the existence of a sinister figure called, Knight Rogue.
There is one man who holds the key to Sento’s memories. A prison escapee by the name of Ryuga Banjo, who adamantly denies commiting the murder he is accused of.
Misora Isurugi who works with Sento, has the ability to purify the harmful components the Smash are made of.
Sento transforms into Kamen Rider Build in order to uncover the mystery surrounding the Pandora Box, the Smash and his amnesia.
SENTO KIRYU (a.k.a. Kamen Rider Build)
Sento was taken in by Souichi Isurugi after collapsing in front of him and now lives in the basement of Souichi's cafe. A genius physicist, at Souichi's recommendation he joins the Touto Institute of Advanced Matter Physics in order to investigate the Pandora Box. Sento has lost most of his memory and also seeks to recover his lost past. Sento secretly uses the Full Bottles to become Kamen Rider Build.
Sento is played by Inukai Atsuhiro, who was the winner of the 2012 Junon Super Boy contest. He was quoted as saying “I watched Kabuto while I was at school. Tendou was so cool, I wanted to be him.”
Ryuga is a former pro fighter who was banned for match fixing. He was arrested on suspicion of murdering a member of Advanced Matter Physics but escapes from prison. He has the ability to sense the Smash.
Ryuga is played by Eiji Akaso, who was previously in the second season of KR Amazons as Nagase, the sole surviving member of Team X who also used to be Iyu's classmate.
Souichi is the owner of 'cafe nascita' and father of Misora. He takes in Sento after he lost his memory and watches over his activities as Build.
Souichi is played by Yasuyuki Maekawa who previously played Shinra, the captain of the Kanon Royal Guards in Ultraman Orb The Origin Saga.
Mimsora is a withdrawn girl who hides herself away within the basement of her father's cafe. She is able to 'purify' the ingredients that Sento 'harvests' from the Smash.
Misora is played by Kaho Takada.
Saki is a freelance journalist who is invesigating the Pandora Box when she is attacked by the Smash. She discovers Build's secret identity and decides to help him.
Saki is played by Yukari Taki, who has had multiple previous roles in toku; She was in KR W Returns - Accel as Aoi Katsuragi, the female thief that Ryu spends most of the film chasing. She was in the Gavan movie as Itsuki, the childhood friend and love interest to Geki/New Gavan. She was in Ultraman Ginga S as Arisa, the female member of the UPG team. Finally, she was the thief known as 'Little John' back in episode three of KR Ghost.
Gentoku is the aide to Toto’s Prime Minister. Intelligent and ambitious, he runs both the Advanced Matter Physics that Sento works for and leads Touto’s Special Forces which pursue Ryuga.
Gentoku is played by Kensei Mikami.
Utsumi is Gentoku's assistant who leads Advanced Matter Physics's investigation into the Pandora Box. He is Sento's day-to-day boss.
Utsumi is played by Yuki Ochi.
The theme tune is called "Be The One" and will be performed by PANDORA ft Beverly. PANDORA are a brand new group featuring Daisuke Asakura, who performed the music (but not the vocals) for the first opening to Ultraman Orb The Origin Saga. Beverly is a vocalist signed to Avex Trax who sung the opening to the J-Drama CRISIS.
A preview of the song can be found on Avex's official PANDORA page http://avex.jp/pandora/

At least the belt isn't jabbering endlessly. I guess that's the best we can hope for at this point. I'd still remove the "Are you ready" and "Yay".
The song sounds good. Two themes in a row that I've liked. Maybe Rider's dry spell since Hibiki for good theme songs (punctuated by Decade) is clearing up.
Ok, as far-reaching as that set-up is, this is already sounding awesome. Can't wait to see it.
This image has been going around on twitter. I don't know where it came from or if it's genuine, but it's claimed that it's a title card for the movie team-up of Build with Ex-Aid. The text states that the film is called "Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL".
Well, that picture of Ex-Aid and build fighting is from the toy catalogue, and takes place during Build's debut in the Ex-Aid movie. It's not out of the question they'd reuse the image, but I'm dubious about it.
Separate names with a comma.
